Alma Dolores International Dance Centre is performing two different shows this weekend at the Klein Center for the Performing Arts.
The first production, “Fuego”, will be held Saturday and will transport attendees to the countries of Latin America.
“It will be all style of dance with a spanish or Latin flare,” Alma Dolores said. “It’s very lively, very exciting (and) very colorful.”
“Fuego”, meaning fire, features dance styles such as tap, ballet, lyrical, Polynesian, salsa, flamenco as well as many others by local teens and adults.
The soundtrack includes Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Santana and Camila Cabello.
“It just takes you to those places in Central America,” Dolores said. “It takes you to the different cultures in Latin America.”
Saturday’s show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at the Oscar Yrun Community Center or at the door for $15.
The second performance is a matinee on Sunday. It’s theme is “Mary Poppins: Now and Then” and variety show. The show will feature music from both the original and the newer version of the popular Disney movies.
After the “Mary Poppins: Now and Then” number, the teens will take the stage and perform their interpretation of Disney’s Descendants, which involves the children of Disney princesses like Belle and Cinderella as well as the children of villians like Maleficent.
The variety show portion will feature international dancing such as a spanish ballet, irish dancing, and belly dancing.
“It’s a family show,” Dolores said. “Everyone will love it. It’s so much fun.”
In tribute to Fathers Day some of the dads will join the dancers, of all ages, on stage for a dance. The dads will finish the show with a comedy number as super dads.
Sunday’s show begins at 3 p.m. at the Klein Center for the Performing Arts and tickets can be purchased at the Oscar Yrun Community Center or at the door for $15.
