Racquet club hosting annual tournament

SIERRA VISTA — The Cochise Health and Racquet Club is hosting its 10th annual Holiday Insanity doubles tournament in Sierra Vista on Saturday morning.

Players will draw partners in each of the four rounds, and all games will be rally scoring. Players of all skill levels are encouraged to register.

The tournament serves as a collection for the Sierra Vista Fire and Medical Services’ annual toy drive. Each participant is asked to bring a new, unwrapped children’s toy to be donated as their entry fee.

“We have a good number of racquetball players in the area, and it's a good way for racquetball players to give back to their community,” tournament director Elmo Long said. “It fosters good comradeship between racquetball players in the area.”

Tournament signup begins at 8 a.m. at the club, with game play beginning a 9.

A more competitive tournament will follow, but requires a $10 entry fee.

Players will draw their partner and play with the same person throughout the rounds. Half the collection will be given to the winners, while the other half will be donated to the Sierra Vista Fire and Medical Services for their Christmas drive.

Registering in advance is preferred. To register, email Long at or call him at 520-249-6936.
