BENSON — Although the Benson Ladycats had previously defeated the Morenci Wildcats three time in earlier season action, the fourth game proved to be the downfall for Benson — losing to Morenci at home on Tuesday, Feb. 18 in the final game of the state championship play-in tournament 62-58.

PRESCOTT — Clayson Goodwin captured a fourth consecutive state wrestling championship and Clayton Sherman also earned a state title to lead a handful of Bobcats grapplers in the state tournament.

ST. DAVID — The St. David Tigers girls basketball team showed why they are in first place in the 1A state ranking on Friday, defeating Mohave Accelerated 72-16 in front of the Tigers’ home court fans in the regional tournament.

The St. David Tigers went into overtime against the visiting NFL YET College Prep Academy Eagles on Friday, Feb. 14 in the regional tournament but came up short 79-77 for their final game of the 2019-20 season.

REGION — With the 2019-2020 basketball regular season all wrapped up, the Benson and St. David high school’s girls and boys teams have their eyes on the playoffs.

ST. DAVID — The perfect season was ruined Tuesday night as the St. David High School girls basketball team lost their first game of the 2019-2020 campaign in Pima.

BENSON — Benson High School’s boys basketball team’s offense couldn’t be disrupted in their 55-37 win over Tombstone on Friday.

TOMBSTONE — The Benson High School girls basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak Friday night with a 52-20 win over visiting Tombstone High School.

ST. DAVID — A strong second half stand propelled the St. David High School boys basketball team to victory Friday night against Tohono O’Odham. The Tigers won their sixth consecutive game of the season by a score of 79-68.

BENSON — The Benson High School girls basketball team had two tough games last week as they lost to St. David and Thatcher high schools.

ST. DAVID — The St. David Tigers girls basketball team proved too tough to stop once again with a 62-14 win over Tohono O’Odham at home on Friday night.
