Thomas Haynie — St. David Tennis
Thomas Haynie, a senior at St. David High School, is the varsity captain for the Tigers’ tennis team. In his fourth year competing in tennis, Thomas served as captain of the team for both his junior and senior years.
Thomas is an active member of not only the tennis team but also competed in football his freshman year and is involved in several school organizations. He has competed on the Academic Team all four years (captain his junior and senior years), was a member of the student council (sophomore year as public relations director, junior year as treasurer, and senior year as vice president), class officer (freshman treasurer, sophomore public relations, and senior vice president), FBLA (freshman historian, sophomore student council representative, junior treasurer, and senior vice president), HOSA, the HOPE Squad, NHS, and a member of the honor roll. Thomas also competed at regional, state, and national FBLA competitions (1st in the state’s Introduction to Business Procedures — and national competitions his freshman year, 2nd as a team in the state’s Management Information Systems and a finalist at nationals his sophomore year, and 4th in the state’s Client Services his junior year).
Thomas has been an active member of the Boy Scouts for 10 years and enjoys volunteering for numerous service projects for his school, church, and community. In his free time his works on various projects using his 3D Printer.
One of his favorite high school memories was traveling to Washington DC with other high school juniors from around the state of Arizona the summer before his senior year as a local winner of the SSVEC Washington Youth Tour competition.
After graduation, Thomas plans to go on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Following his mission, he will be going to college to work on a degree in aerospace engineering.
Thomas is the son of David and Michelle Haynie.
