ST. DAVID — The St. David ladies, emerging as one of the top girls’ hoops teams in 1A, will look to turn up the heat when they resume prep basketball play following the holiday break.
It’s been a month since the Tigers found themselves on the short end of the scoreboard. St. David last tasted defeat on Nov. 27 to the Bisbee Pumas in the championship game of the season-opening Boyd Baker Tournament in Tucson.
Coach Laron Richardson and crew followed that up by taking the eight-team Benson Holiday Tournament, defeating the host Bobcats for the title, and have shown no signs of any slow down.
The St. David Ladies return to action after the holiday break with a pair of non region games. St. David travels to Superior on Monday, Jan. 6, before facing river-valley rival St. David on Jan. 7. Each game is set for a 5:30 p.m. start time.
The game with the Bobcats is the second meeting this season between the teams. St. David resumes league play on Jan. 10 in a home game Tohono O’Odham, also at 5:30 p.m.
