DOUGLAS — Several members of the Douglas High School football team have been awarded postseason all-Gila Region honors.

Sophomore Emiliano Bethely was awarded first-team honors as a kickoff returner and an offensive/utility flex player.

Senior Kevin Ybarra received first-team honors as a linebacker and Adalberto “Cheezy” Valencia, who missed the last four games of the season, made the first team as an offensive lineman.

Second team honors went to Josh Gracia at defensive lineman, Francisco Corrales at linebacker and Diego Martinez at offensive lineman.

Michael Monge, Aiden Rodriguez and Ben Sandoval received honorable mention honors.

Douglas finished 2-6 overall and 1-3 in region.

Daniel Sainz of Catalina Foothills, the Gila Region champions, was selected coach of the year; Yasuo Bean of Catalina Foothills was the offensive player of the year. Empire’s Jake Lambert was the defensive player and the overall player of the year for the Gila Region.
