The Lady Bulldogs dream season, that saw them break a school record for wins, ended Saturday with a 2-0 4A state playoff loss to Sahuaro High in Tucson.

Scoreless at the half, a defensive breakdown by Douglas allowed Sahuaro to score two minutes into the second half taking a 1-0 lead.

Thirty minutes later, another defensive breakdown by Douglas allowed Sahuaro to score again increasing its lead to 2-0.

Sahuaro outshot Douglas 19-1. Douglas goalie Andrea Amaya had a busy afternoon recording 17 saves.

“We should have, could have, beat this team, but we just couldn't get going offensively,” Douglas’ coach Mario Romero said. “A couple of defensive break downs is all Sahuaro needed. Going to miss this group of seniors; thanks to my coaching staff, Diego Guerrero and Gilbert Aguilar. It was a good run for this team Bruce, proud of what they accomplished."

Douglas ends the year 18-8, 10-3 in regular season play.
