On Saturday, the Sierra Vista Community Tennis Association hosted a Men's Singles Tournament at Kings Court, a city recreational facility.
Players from Cochise county participated in the first-ever known “Tens Tie-Breaker” singles tournament. Players played best of three Tens Tie-Breakers formats. Sounds like fun? Well, it was, testing the best players to get off to a fast start over traditional best of three sets format.
Also, several rounds of Double Elimination play was allowed in a few hours. Players were playing in three Divisions: Adult Champions, Adult Premier and Junior Champions.
Winners were: in Adult Champions r,unner-up – Joe Owen, and winner - Joshua Yang. In Adult Premier, runner-up – Jason Dawes, and Winner – Phil McCage; in Junior Champions, runner-up – John Yang, and winner - Nathan Haws. Congratulations to all the players.
