Details for Now Hiring Multimedia Journalist

Multimedia Journalist
The ideal candidate will be naturally curious, able
to write strong copy on a tight deadline and just as
comfortable covering a city council meeting as a high
school football game. As a community newspaper and
digital media company, our team members must be able
to learn quickly and be ready to tackle any topic, from
breaking news to human interest features to in-depth
enterprise projects. The managing editor works directly
with reporters to develop the skills and stories needed
to succeed while providing autonomy to pursue larger
projects and pursuits.
The more skills in your journalist quiver besides strong
writing -- including photography, video, social media,
audio -- the more opportunities you will have with us.
We recently launched a podcast, we are introducing
new video components and recently created our own
hyperlocal social media platform. Top candidates will
be interested and able to contribute to these projects
as we continue pushing a digital-first mentality within
our organization. Our staff is a mix of experienced
and enthusiastic young reporters excited about
good journalism and serving the community through
meaningful work.
Nuts and bolts: A degree in journalism or a related
field is preferred; recent college grads with student
media or internship experience will be considered.
Strong knowledge of AP style, grammar and overall
clean, consistent, accurate writing is needed. Nights
and weekend work as needed. Along with competitive
compensation and a tight-knit working environment, we
offer medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) retirement
plan. We are an equal opportunity employer. Send a
resume, cover letter and writing clips to Andrew Paxton
at editor@myheraldreview.com.
