BISBEE — Copper Queen Community Hospital (CQCH) recently promoted gynecologist Dr. Edward Miller to the position of chief medical officer (CMO).
Miller joined CQCH in 2016, and has been the primary gynecologist serving Bisbee and Douglas. He will continue to see patients, even with his new duties.
Robert Seamon, CQCH’s CEO stated, “Dr. Miller brings a wealth of talent and experience, both as a physician and as a leader. I’m thrilled to have Ed joining our administrative team here at Copper Queen Community Hospital, and I look forward to working with him.”
Miller said, “The outstanding clinical and nonclinical teams in place at CQCH are an excellent foundation going forward. I am standing on the shoulders of those who came before me. I’m excited to be offered the opportunity to help elevate our care towards even higher levels of excellence and a broader audience.

His current priorities are expanding surgical services, including new operating rooms, increasing telemedicine services, and recruiting new providers.
He was born and raised in Tucson, and has more than 25 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology. He has achieved high levels of performance in clinical and teaching endeavors.
Since graduating in the top 1 percent of all OB-GYN residents in the country in 1986, he was named one of “America’s Top Obstetricians & Gynecologists” by The Consumer Research Council of America. He has served as chairman of obstetrics and gynecology departments at three hospitals and as the chief of staff of Northwest Medical Center in Tucson. He was also Captain of the Year (Douglas MacArthur Award) in the Army.
Miller has won numerous teaching awards and is an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at two universities. His colleagues consider him the go-to surgeon during emergencies and complex cases.
He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
