DOUGLAS — A man accused of a drive-by shooting in Douglas in June was arrested on Wednesday, Douglas Police said.
Heriberto Sierra, a Douglas resident, was arrested at the 900 block of 20th Street. The 34-year-old suspect was picked up on a traffic stop, said Douglas Police spokeswoman Officer Jamilette Barrios.
Investigators said that on June 29, Sierra fired shots into a car driven by someone he had argued with and had chased down. Barrios would not reveal where the shooting took place.
According to court records a warrant was not issued for Sierra's arrest until late August. It's unclear why it took almost two months.
Based on a press release by Barrios on Thursday, Sierra is charged with one count of drive-by shooting, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of attempted second degree murder.
He is being held at the Cochise County Jail.
