HUACHUCA CITY — For those looking to bring a pet into into their lives, the Huachuca City Animal Shelter is having a special adoption event this weekend and next.
The Clear the Shelter event starts Friday and goes till Sunday, and will also run from Dec. 14 through Dec. 16.
During the event, there will be 20 dogs and puppies and a dozen cats and kittens available for adoption at half off the adoption fee.
Mary Moran, a volunteer at the shelter, said the event is all about finding homes for animals deserving of love.
“Our hearts are so involved with these animals,” she said. “We just want them to find really good homes for Christmas and life. They are just so sweet.”
For pets that came into the shelter already spayed or neutered, the adoption fee will be $20. Animals that needed to be spayed or neutered will cost $35.
Each pet has received all its shots, has been spayed/neutered, and is well-socialized.
“The animals are quality, well taken care of and healthy,” Moran said. “They are just wonderful, and this is a very positive holiday event.”
There is a variety of breeds and ages available, ranging from mutts to pedigree breeds.
During the event, they will have cookies and hot cider as well as holiday music playing while people meet the adoptable pets.
Clear the Shelter takes place at the shelter, located at 300 Howard St., from 1 to 5 p.m.
