SIERRA VISTA — The Sierra Vista Police Department arrested a local woman on Monday, Feb. 24, for aggravated assault and an aggravated DUI after she rear-ended a motorcycle on Thursday, Feb. 13.
The collision occurred at about 7:10 p.m. on Feb. 13 when 41-year-old Sierra Vista resident Leslie Munsey was traveling northbound on Highway 92 in a Kia four-door sedan and rear-ended 21-year-old Sierra Vista resident Teresa Fast who was stopped at the Highway 90 Bypass and Highway 92 traffic signal. Fast suffered severe injuries and was flown to Tucson for medical care after initial transport to Canyon Vista Medical Center.
Due to the potentially life-threatening nature of Fast’s injuries, SVPD officers waited until her condition stabilized to file charges against Munsey. Fast is now in stable condition, which resulted in lesser charges being filed against Munsey.
Munsey was charged with multiple felonies to include two counts of aggravated assault and aggravated DUI. Her misdemeanor charges include DUI and open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
The aggravated DUI charge stems from Munsey having a child under the age of 15 in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Munsey’s blood alcohol content was 0.115. Neither Munsey nor the child in her vehicle were injured in the collision.
