The Cochise County Community Development Department hereby invites citizens, governmental agencies or groups, and other interested parties to provide input regarding proposed revisions to the 2005 County Light Pollution Code at a public meeting to be held from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the Cochise County Board of Supervisors Hearing Room located at 1415 Melody Lane, Building G in Bisbee, Arizona.  All parties interested in this matter in are invited to appear and express their views.  Note that the Board of Supervisors will not vote on the proposed revisions at this time, but rather at a later date yet to be determined. 

Some of the proposed revisions to the 2005 Cochise County Light Pollution Code are:

  • New definitions to provide clarification and to reflect trends in lighting and signage technology

  • New requirement for automatic controls for outdoor lighting

  • Prohibition of externally illuminated LED signage

  • Restrict information provided on LED signage to fuel prices, time and temperature shown with red text on black backgrounds

  • Non-compliant illuminated signs must be turned off until compliance is achieved

  • Some grammatical and format edits
