Joe “Baby” Luis Acosta, 58
DOUGLAS — On Friday September 11, 2020, Joe Acosta passed away at Tucson Medical Center. He was 58 years young. Joe was born on January 12, 1962 in Douglas, Arizona to Jesus and Concepcion Acosta. He was born into a big family with nine siblings, (three brothers) Jesus “Tito” (Josie), Angel (Ofelia) and Jesus “Gordo” (Adilene); and (six sisters) Rosemary, Diana “DD” (Hank), Ana (Nacho), Flora (Alberto), Sandra (Sergio), and Cyndi (Eddie).
On April 6, 1985 he married the love of his life Derilyn Jenette Hill, where they shared 35 wonderful years together. In September of 1985 they decided to grow their family and welcomed their oldest son Jose Jesus (JJ) into the world, and followed with three more children Bobby, Chawn (Chawno), and their beautiful baby girl Ashley (Ash) through the years. He welcomed with open arms his daughter-in-laws Jennifer (Guera) and Bryana and he was also a proud grandfather to Malia, Derek and Leo and a Nino to many more.
Joe had a heart of gold making sure no one ever felt left out and treated everyone like family. Those who had the opportunity to meet him knew once he accepted you into his life, you were not only a friend you became family. He spent his whole life in Douglas and loved being around family and hanging out with his dad. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and leave you with a smile every time he sang a song. He will be forever missed, but never forgotten. “Once a bulldog forever a Bulldog Plancha.”
He was preceded in death by his older brother Jesus “Tito” Acosta, his mother Concepcion Acosta, his mother-in-law Phyllis Wight, sister-in-law Josie Acosta and brother-in-laws Alberto Valenzuela and Hank Vaupel.
A viewing and Rosary will be held on Thursday September 17, 2020. A funeral service will be held on Friday September 18, 2020. Due to current restrictions the capacity is limited for the funeral services on Friday.
