Joe Bustamante, 58
Sierra Vista — On March 23 2020, Joe Bustamante, loving father, husband, and brother, passed into the loving arms of his Lord Jesus Christ. He has run his race and finished it. Joe was born October 20, 1961 to Joseph (Sr.) and Lydia Bustamante in Sierra Vista. His father was employed on Fort Huachuca, and his mother worked as a beloved longtime teacher at Carmichael Elementary School. Joe was a lifetime resident of Sierra Vista. After graduating from Buena High School Class of 1980, he earned his BS and MS in Rehabilitation from the University of Arizona. After a brief stint in Phoenix, Joe returned to Sierra Vista to work for Belltech (later Dyncorp) on Fort Huachuca, and later joined South Eastern Arizona Behavioral Health Services (SEABHS) as a mental health therapist, a position from which he later retired. In 1988, Joe met the love of his life, Barbara. The two were married in 1989, and this was the beginning of 30 beautiful years of marriage. He attended Calvary Chapel with his wife and kids.
Joe was a model husband and father who deeply loved God, his family, friends, and pets. He was also a huge UA basketball fan and never stopped cheering his team on. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, but is survived by his wife Barbara, his sons Angel and Jesse, his brother Jacob (Melissa) of Tucson, and his brother-in-law Mark (Debbie) Ernst of Apache Junction. Per his wishes, there will be a private interment at a later date. His family wants to thank his extended family, friends, and Calvary Chapel for their endless support over the past few months, as well as Dr. Kaplan, Dr. Latchman, and Case de la Paz Hospice, all of whose care and support were truly selfless. We all know this is not the end, but a “See you later!” until we all meet again soon. “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more,” because “He will dwell among them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God!” (Rev. 21)
