Obituary for Marjory Mills Shupert, 83

DENVER — Marjory Mills Shupert of Denver, Colorado, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. She was born in Denver, Colorado on July 13, 1935, to Alice Irene (Eddy) Mills and Earnest Parker Mills. She was the oldest of three children.

Her family lived in Denver, except during WWII when they moved to Boulder where her father was assigned to work during the war. After the war, they moved back to Denver where she met her best friend, Barbara Reed. They both graduated from East High School in 1953.

Marjory attended Colorado State University. She joined Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, TAU Chapter. She married her college sweetheart, Thomas Shupert, in 1957. They resided in Littleton, CO, where they raised three children.

She stayed active in her sorority through 2010.

She became Executive Director of Gamma Phi Beta International Sorority in 1982, holding that position for 16 years. She served as a curator at the Gamma Phi Beta Museum for 5 years, where she became interested history and genealogy.

Tom and Marjy moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona in 2003 to spend their retirement. They both became involved in the Cochise County Historical Society, and Faith Presbyterian Church. Marjy managed the gift store for the Henry Hauser Museum. She was an elder at Faith Presbyterian Church.

Marjy is survived by her three children: Cynthia (R. Keith Newlon) of Sierra Vista, Linda (Joseph) Fox of Flagstaff, Arizona and Scott (Janice) Shupert of Littleton, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Lindsey (Zach) Lueder, Cara (Brad) Moyer, Tyler (Amy Darte) Newlon, Whitney Fox, Jamie and Alex Wahl, and Ryan Shupert; great-grandchildren, Hazel, Wren, Lennox Newlon, Zach Lueder, Jr., and Paxton Moyer; her brother, Jay C.(Eda) Mills of Longmont, Colorado; and her good friend, Barbara Reed (and daughter Trish) of Denver.

She is predeceased by her sister, Susan (Dave) Dreisbach of Westerville, Ohio.

Memorial Services will be held in Sierra Vista at Faith Presbyterian Church on March 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. with reception to follow.
