April 10, 2019

Our beloved Sue, surrounded by her sons, her sisters and her devoted husband of 34 years, Jim, was welcomed into Heaven by our Lord and Savior on April 10.

Sue was raised in Portland, Oregon. She and Jim met, love at first sight, in Denver. Over the years, Jim’s businesses took them to Montana, Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Milwaukee and, finally, permanently, to Benson in 2001 to help develop the San Pedro Golf Course. Along the way Sue made hundreds of lifelong friends and served thousands of those less fortunate than herself.

Sue lived her Christian life to the fullest. She was devoted to her husband, three sons, two step daughters and seven grandchildren. Her lifelong passion was serving those around her. She was sensitive to the needs of everyone except herself.

At home Sue enjoyed her hobbies of tending to her roses, organizing the history of both sides of the family and cooking. Together Jim and Sue enjoyed golf and their many RV trips all around the USA to visit family, friends and favorite golf courses.

Susan is survived by her soulmate, husband and best friend Jim, sons Jeffrey LaBahn (Raleigh N.C.), Jonathan LaBahn (San Francisco) and Joseph Cox (Tucson), step-daughters Jennifer Cox-Lillis and Kathleen Cox (Denver), sisters Terri Crook (Houston), Cindi Chandler (Bend OR) and Mandi Harris (Olathe KS), and brother Steven Slenning (Portland OR). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Susan Cox packed a lot of vibrant and happy living into her way-too-few 72 years. Those who knew her know that she was welcomed Home with the words “Well done my good and faithful servant!” Hers was a life truly-well lived. She will be missed sorely by all she touched.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on May 4, 2019 at 4 p.m. at the New Life Family Worship Center in Pomerene. Please make a donation to someone in need, just as you know Sue would do.
