The Academic All-Star Award is a means to recognize and honor some of our outstanding students. Students from grade one through grade 12 can be nominated.
One Academic All-Star recipient will be selected from grade one through grade 11. Up to eight Academic All Star recipients will be selected from grade 12 to receive a one-time scholarship of $500 each to use to continue their education.
Academic All Award recipients will be recognized at an awards ceremony in April.
Eligibility Candidates are students elementary school through grade 12. Candidates can be from public, private, charter or home schools. Candidates for this award have demonstrated excellence in academics, extracurricular activities and involvement in the community outside the school. A minimum 3.0 or B average is required.
Nomination Criteria The nominee exhibits, but not limited to, the following characteristics: • The love of learning • Challenges themselves to reach high standards and expectations • Demonstrates positive behaviors inside and outside the classroom • Demonstrates leadership skills • Is involved in extracurricular activities at school or within the community
Nomination Process Based on the nomination criteria, candidates may be nominated for the Academic All-Star Award by teachers, coaches, students, and/or community members. Deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, February 1, 2019.
Selection Process The Selection Committee reviews the nominations and qualifies them for the selection process.
Awards Ceremony The Academic All Star and Golden Apple Award recipients are invited to a breakfast in their honor on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 10 a.m. to noon at Cochise College Sierra Vista’s Student Union. Breakfast will be served starting at 9:30 a.m. and the ceremony will begin promptly at 10 a.m. Academic All Star and Golden Apple recipients will be announced at the ceremony.
